The Organizer
Marley is into organizing lately.
We went shoe shopping before the wedding, and she spent fifteen minutes moving the boxes around. She would pull the boxes off the shelves, switch the shoes out with other shoes, push them to different sides of the shelf, and put all the lids on them. I'm sure the Payless ladies loved that I was just videotaping her instead of stopping her!
When we fed her bowties the other day, instead of eating them she was very concerned about sorting them. She would put them all in the bowl and then pull them all out. She would put them on one side of the bowl and then move them to the other. She would eat one every once in a while, but organizing them was way more fun!
After Asa and Joel were done putting up the Christmas lights for the wedding, Marley was obsessed with their boxes. She built all sorts of towers and piles, getting them jsut the way she wanted.
At dinner a few weeks ago, I gave her a handful of cheese from my plate. She did not feel good about the fact the cheddar and Monterrey jack cheese were mixed, so she split them up. She put all the yellow cheese to one side and the white cheese to the other side. And then she only ate the cheddar.
It's so cute to me, to see her being so deliberate about what she wants and how she wants it. It just shows me how much she is really thinking about and how smart she is getting. Instead of just doing random things, she actually knows what she's doing!

Mr. and Mrs.
The day started early, with a whole page worth of things to do. We ate breakfast, started making food, cleaned up, and decorated. Sue Mary came over to hang ivy, berries and leaves on the trellises while we rushed around and welcomed family. It really hadn't hit me yet that I was getting married, but I was so excited! It was a BEAUTIFUL day! Asa left around 11 for the alumni swim meet to see what he could swim. He ended up swimming the 100 freestyle and the last relay, doing a great job for someone who hasn't been swimming for years!
Uncle Cliff and Uncle Andy got in around noon, so I got to see a few pictures of Lilah and Christy before I had to get my hair done. I had asked Jenna to come with me to get my hair done, so she met me there and we looked through magazines until it was time for me to go. I had told the lady who cut my hair two weeks ago that I wanted to wear it down, with a few parts clipped up in the flowers we had bought. But, I changed my mind and decided I wanted it up out of my way. She got a little attitude when I told her that. Jenna was a huge help, making sure it looked the way I wanted and helping me change my mind if it was something that wouldn't look great. Asa I was getting my flowers put in, it hit me. I AM GETTING MARRIED! HOLY CRAP!
I got home from the hair appointment and everything was really coming together. The trellises were done, the Uncles had set up the chairs, and Aunt Julie had started putting together the centerpieces. So, for the next three hours we worked. Asa got home from the meet, we finished making all the food, Mary came with the cake (which looked fantastic!), and I finished all of the flowers. At about 4 it started getting really hectic. I had been waiting for everything until closer to time, but when Jenna got there at 4:15 to do my make-up I had to stay in the back. Uncle Cliff had been taking pictures with our camera all day. It was hilarious how serious he was about getting his shots, and at one point he was hiding in the shower to get "the shot" of me getting my make-up done! Leslie also got there around this time and started her pictures.
While I was getting my face made-up, my mom and Aunt Julie wanted to get Marley's red dress on her. So, they changed her diaper and put the bloomers on, and she was fine. But as soon as they started to put the dress over her head, she went ballistic! She was screaming so hard her whole face was red. So, we had to change our plans and pick a different, less poofy dress for her. She was a little upset while we were putting it on her, but she got over it. All of the sudden, I realized there were fifty things I forgot to do and it was already 5:15! So, I sent Aunt Julie to get the flowers and give them to everyone, I sent Uncle Cliff to make sure Asa had the rings, I sent someone to make sure we had assigned a person to play the music. It was like I had no idea if things were organized or not. I was peaking out the bathroom window, watching all the guests take their seats, and my stomach was in huge knots.
Once we got all the little things taken care of (Asa had already handled most of it, by the way) it was time to get the show on the road. Everyone was out of the house except for me and Emily. She said it was time for the pep-talk, so she gave me a really cute one and I was ready to go. We stood in the hallway until we could hear the music playing and then both walked out, Marley in Emily's arms.
As I walked out, I could see all of the people who love us smiling at me. It was such a great moment. I felt beautiful, excited, and loved! I could see Asa smiling for me and Grandpa standing with his aviators on and it all just felt right. I walked down the aisle to "All I Want is You" from Juno. When Asa heard it for the first time, he said that was the song he wanted to play at our wedding.
The ceremony went great. Marley sat with Joel most of the time or in her rocking chair and played with her flower peddles for a little while also. She got pretty tired and almost fell asleep on his shoulder. I couldn't see my family's side because the sun was in my eyes, but I could see Asa's family. Everyone laughed when we wanted them to, and we were both more relaxed than I expected us to be. The beginning was entertaining, but once we got to the vows everyone was serious. I could tell that Asa was nervous. His neck was bright red and while reading his vows, I could tell he was getting emotional. I wanted to cry so bad, but I kept telling myself not to. Once I got to my vows, I couldn't help it. I started crying in the second sentence, and I found out later that most of the women in the audience were crying along with me. Asa teared up too, only making me cry more!
The kiss was the most satisfying moment. It felt like relief, since it was all over and we were finally married! Asa made a short little speech to everyone, thanking them for coming and being with us on such a special day. I was so proud of him for doing that, he is not a speech-giver. Grandpa told everyone that we needed the family members up for pictures and everyone else could mill around a "rifle through the house".
After the pictures were done, we could party! Leslie and Uncle Cliff took pictures of the two of us while everyone got served.
It was really overwhelming to think about the fact that we were married. Nothing was going to be drastically different the next day, except for a few diamonds on my finger, but I felt like I was older and more mature. The backyard looked beautiful once the sun was going down and the lights were on. It looked like something from a movie, so romantic and sweet. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and I loved getting to see so many people that I hadn't seen in forever. I made myself a plate of food, but then I realized I shouldn't eat it because it might get on my dress! So, Marley ate my corn and bread, which put her in a MUCH better mood!
One of my regrets about the wedding, which is a regret for anyone at their wedding, was that I didn't have enough time to talk to everyone that I wanted to. There were so many people here that I needed to visit with, but I barely had any time.
We signed the marriage license with Grandpa and then cut the cake. The cake was made by Mary, and I really thought it was fantastic. It was simple looking, but beautiful and fit us well. We weren't really sure how to do it, so everyone had to tell us that were supposed to do it together. Asa was a good guy and didn't try to rub it on me while he was feeding me my piece. Then, we also had a toast. I couldn't stop laughing through the toast for some reason!
The guys started playing washers in the backyard and Marley wanted to play with them! She would sit on the washer box and just laugh about herself and how cute she was!
After that, most of the people started heading out. It was sad to say goodbye to all of the people who left and I knew we wouldn't see them for a long time. We had quite a few people who stayed around though. We started to look at the pictures that had been taken when Marley needed to go to sleep. So, I put her to sleep and we spent the rest of the evening hanging out and talking with the people who were left.
We are both so happy! More important than how the ceremony went or what food we ate or what gifts we got, it meant so much to us that so many people were there to love and support us! I don't feel intensely different, but I do feel more grown up. I can tell that Asa is so happy, also. He isn't one to show big emotions, but you can definitely tell he loves me! That's what everyone kept saying. I wish the party could have lasted longer. Once the wedding got going, it felt like it was over in a flash and now what do I do with my time?
Two things I am upset about: We do not have a view of the ceremony that shows my face. We had three video cameras set up, but none of them are zoomed in on my face. The other thing is the fact that we did not get a pictures of just me, Asa, and Marley! It makes me stomach hurt to think about that! We were together in the some pictures, but we never got one of just the three of us. It breaks my heart.
But, overall, I am so happy with everything. I could never thank everyone enough, especially my mom and Joel, for how much they did for us! I wish I could say that I can't wait to do it again, but that doesn't really sound great with weddings... so I'll say that I can't wait to have another party like this with everyone!
*There was no way I could upload and organize all the wonderful photos we had, so I am going to make an online album somewhere if you want to see more!

Day Before the Wedding
Well tomorrow is The Big Day. So, I thought I should finally write a blog about how everything is going! We have been so busy (in fact, I forgot to take a test that I was supposed to take today until 20 minutes before it was due). Today, I worked on all of the flowers, as you can see.
Donna came over at lunch and saw how everything was going. She got to play in the yard with Marley and take a few pictures with Asa. I had never realized how few pictures we have of she and Asa!
My mom, Emily, and I got our nails done and then we sped through the house trying to clean it. My family arrived right before the rehearsal dinner. I can already tell how different Marley is getting. She is way less overwhelmed by big groups and actually seems to enjoy it a little. She was happy to greet everyone when they came in and played with anyone who would play with her.
We had such a great time! I guess I expected something to go wrong with every aspect of the wedding, so I assumed Marley would be a bad mood, or the food would be cold, or there would be a fight. But it was perfect and Marley was a great sport. It was so nice to see our families happy and excited for us and mingling together!
We still have a big list of things to do tomorrow, but I am quite relaxed. A lady at the nail shop today said she had never seen such a calm bride! We did hire a friend from high school who takes great pictures to do our wedding, so I should have the pictures very soon. And another friend from high school is doing the filming for us, so that will be great also. I am just so so so excited! I can tell Asa is getting excited too! We went through everything with Grandpa tonight and it was so crazy to rehearse everything and know that it is really happening tomorrow. I know that it won't all go completely perfectly, but I am going to enjoy it as much as possible. I really don't expect a lot from Marley. I will happy with whatever she is doing as long as she is happy. If she gets whiny and wants to kick a ball around the yard, that's fine with me! I really think it will be beautiful, and I feel so lucky that we have so many people who love us. We are so lucky.

Doing It Myself
So, the florist called today with a quote for all the flowers we ordered for the wedding. Thank goodness she hasn't actually made them yet, because they were way out of our price range. I really didn't think that they would cost as much as she is charging. So, I researched it all morning on the internet and have decided to do our flowers myself!
We need the following things:
one bridal bouquet
one bridesmaid bouquet
one groom's boutonniere
five other boutonnieres
one cake topper
one wreath
three mothers' wrist corsages
three table arrangements
We went to the florist at Kroger and asker her about the logistics and looked at the flower choices. I know I am picking the way that makes more work for me, but I am so excited about doing it! I have always wanted to be crafty! We bought a few flowers so I could practice and I made a cake topper this afternoon.I am so impressed with myself! Every time I look at it, I am more excited about it! It will look absolutely perfect on top of my ivory cake. I really don't think it's gong to be that hard to do everything else, and it will definitely save us a bunch of money! How do y'all think I did?

Gifts from Dolapo
My good friend from high school, Dolapo, bought Marley the coolest present! On Wednesday, we got our part of the gift, a Wedding Time Capsule. It has tons of stuff that you fill out, you put pictures in it, and they even tell you to make a video and put it in there. And then in a few years, or whenever you want, you open it and reminisce about when you got married! Then, yesterday we got the gift she sent for Marley! It's a Leap Frog Activity table, and she loves it! She keeps trying to climb on it, and she loves pushing all the buttons. Last night, we came home from dinner and when she saw it she gasped! She was so excited again and especially loves pushing it around the living room.
Thank you, Dolapo! We love everything!

To the Vet
On Wednesday, we had to take Kima to the vet for her yearly check-up. I had been putting this off because I really didn't know how I would transport them both in the car. But with Asa there to help, i figured they would actually like being in the back seat together. They sure do miss each other, and Kima gave Marley enough kisses to last until they see each other again.
It was hilarious, Marley kept pointing at her and looking at me, like she was really confused!
Kima was in perfect health! She has gained a little weight since staying at Grandma's, but she's happy!

Dress Shopping!
On Saturday (this is late, I know) we went dress shopping! We got really lucky and Marley fell asleep on the way there. So, she and her Mimi took naps in the backseat while Emily and I sang to every song on the radio. I t has been a long time I was in the car with my sister and mom for more than five minutes. We had fun!
We tried one smaller dress shop, but they really didn't have anything for normal sized women. If I were a size 2, I would have found a dress in no time, but they didn't have any choices for me there. So we moved on to David's Bridal. I still didn't have as many choices as the smaller girls do, but I had enough. The very first dress I tried on turned out to be The One! I tried on a few more, just to make sure, but I happily decided on the first one! Emily and Marley went and got smoothies while I tried on dresses, and then she ran around the store the rest of the time. I would have felt bad, except that we were spending money, so they could get over it. I am so in love my dress, I want to wear it all the time! But I only have 11 more days until the big day!
Once I was done, we had to find something for the other three girls. So, we went to the mall. Marley was a great sport riding around in the stroller for a while. But then I decided I would let her walk around. Instead of wandering off, all she wanted to do was push the stroller.
We found Emily and Marley somewhat matching dresses. The two of them will be a little bit more dressed than everyone else, but that's okay. I didn't really have a choice with Emily's and Marley will look great in whatever she wears.
She did get lucky and Emily was willing to carry her on her shoulders for a while. Marley kept leaning back and almost falling and then using her abs and pulling herself back up straight.
We went to dinner while my mom shopped for herself (evidently she didn't want Emily telling her what to wear. haha). while she was not there, we told the waiter that it was her birthday.
Marley was not a good mood throughout dinner and it seemed to be taking FOREVER for them to bring the ice cream and sing to her. Seeing that Marley was ready to go, my mom told me to take her to the car and chage her diaper. I couldn't come up with a good reason why I shouldn't, so I did. And I missed it! But luckily I left Emily the camera and she took pictures!
Emily called afterward and told me that I had to come back in and eat the dessert. Even though I missed the birthday celebration, we had a great time together! I feel so lucky and I LOVE my wedding dress! I wish I could wear it somewhere else!
