Unfortunately, she accidentally spilled some of the powder on herself, which ended in a minor freak-out. But she recovered and got to help finish making four delicious cups of Jello!

Backyard Water Park
Yesterday, my mom and I made a water park in the backyard for Marley! My mom bought her a pool with a dolphin on the side of it and a ball that sprays water in several directions. We started with the pool.
Marley was nervous about it from the second the dolphin started coming up. She wanted me to hold her while my mom blew it up, and then just sat in my mom's lap staring at it for a while.
I gave in and went to put my swim suit on in hopes that she would want to get in with me, but my plan did not work. We convinced her to put her feet in , but that was as far as she was willing to go!
So, we moved on to the water mat! She loved this thing last summer and spent many afternoons sitting on it. I remember my mom saying that next summer she would be running all over the yard and running through this water mat. I remember feeling like that was so far away and I just couldn't imagine us there. But here we are!

She was much more happy with this activity!

Last but not least, we moved on to the sprinkler ball! This is a new addition to the backyard, and Marley thought it was awesome! She probably ran 50 laps, all around the ball while it sprayed her all over. I chased her, my mom chased her, and then when we were tired she chased herself! She had so much fun!

Once she finally got tired, we took a break and had a popsicle! She insisted that it did not need to be in the packaging, so she spent a while trying to get it in her mouth. But she loved it once it got there!

Multicultural Festival
This Sunday's lunch with Bill and Mary was spent at the Multicultural festival downtown. This is where booths are set up from all different countries where people cook food from that country. So, we all walked around and sampled all the foods, which was so good! I had a pork quesadilla from the Mexican booth, made with slow-cooked pork and homemade tortillas! It was delicious!
The only way to beat the heat is a delicious snow cone!
We had a blast though! Even with the heat, we had fun tasting delicious food and walking around downtown. They event ended on a sour note though, when Marley spotted the ponies at the pony ride booth and freaked out! That's my girl!
Big Saturday
Saturday was a big day! First we woke up and went to work out, and then we hurried to Grandma's house because Bonnie and Malachi had come into town! Lewis was grilled ribs for us, so we all had a picnic outside on the porch and enjoyed some sun.
Lewis turned on the sprinklers and we let the three kids run around in them. I didn't have a swim suit for Marley, so she just went in a t-shirt and her diaper. She was really nervous about them, and definitely wasn't as into it as the boys were. She really is just an observer. She would have been perfectly happy to just watch the boys play in the sprinklers and not worry about going in herself. But I guess we all really wanted her to so we convinced her to.
She remembered picking blackberries with Grandma, so she wanted to do it again! She got a few and then I showed her how to rinse them off in the sprinkler. And of course she loved them!
Marley was exhausted by the time we left, so luckily I got her to take a nap when we got home. We were hosting our friend Amanda's graduation party, and having a huge crawfish boil!
Marley thought the crawfish were... interesting! We actually got her to hold one, which really surprised me! She didn't eat any of it, but neither did I so I don't blame her.
She and I spent most of our time in the backyard kicking a ball around.
And checking out the leaves.

She has caught on to my trick of Emily bouncing the ball off her head and me trying to get pictures of her smiling. So, she knows I want to take her picture and looks right at me with her mouth wide open!
She doesn't even laugh anymore, she just opens her mouth and poses like she is! Can you believe that?!
Sometimes I can get a real smile, though.

Her big day ended and she was exhausted! She almost fell asleep on my shoulder as I walked around the garden, so I put her to sleep. She was very thankful!

Five Things for Friday
1. I am officially done with school this semester! I was taking three classes online and ended up with much better grades than I thought I would. So, now I have a break for a while. I am going to try to keep taking as many classes as I can from Missouri, but I am running out of online classes to take. They are offering one of the Health Science classes I need in the fall, so hopefully I can get signed up for it. I need to get advised first, and then I can enroll in it.
2. Marley is not sleeping very well here. It took me an hour and a half to get her to sleep tonight, most of the time spent with her crying. I guess it is because she isn't on a consistent schedule here. In Missouri, I had gotten her on a 7:30 bedtime and she always went to sleep easily. But we have so much going on here in the evenings that there is no way to get her in bed at the same time every night. It is kind of wearing me out, so I may have to try to get her back on a schedule as best I can.
3. Marley and I have been working out every day! I haven't worked out this much since I was on swim team in high school. I put Marley in the stroller and go to the SFA stadium and walk for 45 minutes, and it feels great. For some reason I get really motivated when I am away from Asa to eat healthy and exercise. It is so much easier to lose weight when he's not around! I know that sounds terrible, but he is such an unhealthy eater! Without his food around I can actually eat well and in turn, lose weight!
4. Asa is doing well, as far as I know. I don't get to talk to him as much as we thought we would, but I guess that's normal in the Army. His Sargent is sort of taking him under his wing. They go to the gym together every afternoon and evidently they have a lot to talk about. I am so glad he is getting to know the guys in his unit and making friends. It will make the next three years a lot easier for him. He should get a break where we can all go see him over Memorial Day weekend. So, heopfully that will work out and we can get a big group of people to go see him for the day!
5. We have family coming to visit us! Last weekend my Grandma Karen and Grandpa David came in to see us. Next week, my Mimi is coming at the beginning of the week and then my Uncle Cliff, Aunt Christy, and their baby Lilah are all coming later in the week! I'm so excited to see everyone and I have never gotten to meet little Lilah! It should be a great time!

She loves it! And we will definitely be using this technique next year when it's time to take Christmas pictures!
