What's Mine Is Her's

Every night, when we put Marley to sleep, she is surrounded by things that I used to sleep next to. There's the pillowcase of bears that my mom made me years and years ago. When Marley lays down on it, she always points out that Mimi made it. And there is the quilt that my Aunt Julie made for me out of all my old t-shirts. Each t-shirt is a memory of swimming, lifeguarding, vacations with my family. And I love being able to tell her where each shirt came from.
She has bears from Daddy, Mimi, and Nana. And a few that were mine when I was younger. She has the bear I got when I was born and the bear I got at my first Christmas. Who knew when I was getting those items as gifts, and sleeping with them myself, that one day my daughter would be curled up with them, dreaming with them.
It gives me tingles to think that when she lays on the pillow case my mom made, underneath the quilt AJ made, and looks over at the bears that I once hugged, she is surrounded by all the love everyone gave to me long ago.

Which can only lead to sweet dreams.
