Honeymoon: Day Two

Friday was our first day to really get out and do things! It was still raining a little bit, but not enough keep us inside again! And Marley was so excited to get out of the cabin! We first went around most of the streets around our cabin to look at other cabins. Even though we had only been there less than a day, we decided that we should have a cabin eventually. I am not naive enough to think that we will be able to build our own cabin in a few years, but it will be our long-term goal. They are just so beautiful, cozy, and inviting, exactly how I want our future house to be!

At some point on Friday we let her sit in the front seat. I'm not kidding, every single time we went to the car for the rest of the trip, she went to the driver's side door and tried to open it. If we wouldn't let her in and put her in her seat, she would scream for five minutes!
Our first stop was the fishing shop down the street. Asa went in to inquire about fishing trips and see if there was anything interesting he needed to buy. While he was shopping, Marley and I inspected more rocks in the front of the store. She tried to fit as many in her hands as she could, and when she saw one she wanted, but couldn't fit it, she would drop them all and start over.

We spent the rest of the morning trying to figure out Beaver's Bend, but we had no luck. There are three different entrances and it took most of the morning to go through the first two, only to find out there was nothing exciting in those two. When we got to the third entrance, we eventually found the Visitor's Center and took a tour around the museum. Marley had fun walking around, but other than that it didn't hold our interest. So, we went back home to have lunch and Asa booked his guided fishing trip for the next day.
In the afternoon, we decided to venture out and find some pretty spots to take pictures. We have been wanting to take some pictures of the places we go and use them to decorate our future house. So, we drove through every road we could find in Beaver's Bend (which wasn't a lot this day, turns out we weren't going to the right place). We found a few spots, but nothing I was really crazy about.
On our way out, we saw a "Nature Trail" sign that we decided to check out. We put Marley in the backpack and went down the trail. When we got to the river, we saw that the bridge was broken, so we could not follow the trail across. Asa got out the GPS and saw that there was a geocache a little bit down the river, so we decided to try to find it.
We walked for a long time, over pretty dangerous terrain, but when we got as far as we could go we realized it was on the other side of river. Determined to get it, Asa took his shoes off and rolled his pants up, but once he felt the water he changed his mind. So, we made the trek back to the car without victory.
Once we made it back to the car (panting) we drove home and started a fire in the fire pit behind the cabin. Asa The Fire God built us a huge fire while I taught Marley a very important lesson: how to put things in her pockets. She figured it out quick and has since been doing it with everything. But on the trip, rocks were her favorite.
She would grab handfuls of them and shove them in her pockets. If she got bored with doing that, she put them directly in the top of her jacket for safe keeping.
That evening, Asa grilled us some wonderful steaks and we ate the top of our wedding cake. I know that you are really supposed to save it for your first anniversary, but everyone told us we would save it for a year and then hate it and throw it out. So, I figured that was pointless and we should just eat it for our 6 day anniversary!
