Holy crap, Jillian. I haven't been keeping up with your blog because, well I haven't even been keeping up with my own blog because things have been so crazy around here. Anyways, I was catching up with your posts tonight and... Jeffrey took his ASVAB on September 8th, he got an 80 which means he can pick any job he wants, we're getting married in October, and he's leaving for the Air Force in November. AND my birthday is October 24th. If Asa were going to the Air Force, or Jeff to the Army, we would be living the exact same life. I haven't posted about any of it yet because I don't think I'm ready for the whole world to know, I don't want people judging us for this decision when all we want is to do what's best for our family. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you, I feel ya. And also, how frickin' strange? My mouth literally dropped open when I read your post with all the dates. Super weird.
WOW! That is so crazy!! How long will he be training? When are you getting married? And most importantly, are you excited? We really are. It is hard when I think about not seeing my family, but I know it will be worth it. He signed a three year contract, so after that if we want to come home we can. I still can't get over how similar our lives are going to be! haha if only they had picked the same thing, we might get to be real life friends!!
Basic training is 8 weeks!! That means Mads and I are going to be all alone in this apartment, we're going to drive each other insane before two months is up! We're not doing a wedding, just getting the license, waiting the three days, and having the JOTP marry us quick and sweet. We can have a real wedding some other time. And yes, I'm SUPER excited. I mean, I know it's the military, but we're young and we'll get to travel, Jeffrey can finish his last year of college paid for by the military, it would be a good time for me to get back into school, I mean, I just think it's going to open so many doors for us and we'll have so many opportunites that we don't have now. Plus!! We'll be able to actually pay our bills and have money left over! Who wouldn't be excited about that?? I will miss my family too, we have a great support system here and Mads absolutely adores her grandparents. I thought they would be upset when I told them about the Air Force, but they were actually really excited and happy for us, so that makes everything a little easier. I've lived here my whole life though, so it will definitely be hard to just bounce out. You have to keep me updated! It's awesome that I kind of know someone whose family will be going through the same drastic changes that we're about to face. I'm happy for you!
