I started sign language with Marley today! It is going to be tough to get in the habit of doing it every time, but I am going to try my hardest. Right now, we will be doing MILK, MORE, FINISHED, and maybe BANANA. I did some research and I think I going to use the ASL signs for us. There are companies who make products that are pretty much baby-friendlier versions of ASL. But I also read that that is pointless. Babies are fully capable of using the ASL signs, they just won't be perfect. And this way it is something that she can use later in life also!
I am excited and Asa is too. We were both reading all about it this evening. There is a woman on YouTube that did this with her baby and her baby is amazing! She is so smart! I know that doesn't guarantee that Marley will be on her level, but anything will help! If she is half as smart as this little girl, I will be so proud. She shouldn't start signing anything back for a few months, so we won't really know if it's working for a while. But we are going to try it! It has to work if we remember to do it!

We, too, are a signing family. We decided to use ASL as well. I used sign with my older children and when my third child came it was neccessary to teach her sign as she has a rare brain disorder that effectrs her speech. When Julia came I needed something that would teach us a lot of ASL. I found www.signingtime.com Signing Time! is a fun and engaging way to learn ASL. I think you and the girls would love it. They even have 4 DVD's geared just for baby and like said ST! teaches ASL. I found that when we used it along with our talking it came naturally to the child.
Happy Signing!
