we went camping

The best things about camping:

- Marley's excitement on the hilly roads to the campground. Meanwhile, I was nauseous in the front seat.
- having a campsite right on the water
- Vivi's first peanut butter and jelly sandwich
- happy girls
- Vivi watching us swat flies and then doing it herself
- watching Marley happily share with her sister
- Vivi's face at the taste of a push-pop
- Marley conquering her fear and sticking her whole face in the water
- Vivi loving the water and sand
- Asa and Marley playing together in the lake
- Marley building sand castles
- the wonderful feeling of getting in the lake on a hot summer afternoon
- our afternoon ice cream (a camping ritual)
- watching the geese at our campsite
- seeing the girls explore
- nursing Vivi by the lake and watching the sun set
- waking up together, with rain dripping on the tent, and seeing the lake in front of us
- Vivi hiding things in her shirt
- getting out of the house and remembering how much we love to camp.  I am so, so glad we went, even though it was only for one night.
