Here she is listening to her birthday card from Mimi, Papa, and Emily. We have played that thing at least five time a days since the party! But it makes her so happy! "Happy Birthday, Princess! This is your special day! We're having a party to say, Happy Birthday, Princess!"
At lunch, I got her to do something amazing: eat fruit! She normally stay away from anything that isn't cheese or yogurt. But she loved grapes today for some reason! I just cut them in half and gave them to her and she ate about 10 grapes. Go Marley!
When Daddy got home on his lunch break, she was all smiles. We ate lunch together and then gave her her presents from us!
She got a few outfits, a book, and a pool float! She was interested in the book, but the rest got thrown on the floor.
After a little nap, we headed over to Mimi and Papa's house for a little backyard time. I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but she loves the backyard. She will point for some one to take her out, and some one usually does. But as soon as they come in, she is pointing to go outside again. So, when they were in San Antonio last week, they bought some yard art. His name is Papino and he is a tiny mule. They have decided to put him in a different place so that Marley has to look for him. She likes the game so far, and even pet him when she found him today.
Papa put her feet in the bird bath, and she loved that. But she kept wanting to sit down in it!
Next, we went swimming at Alyx's house. We brought her new float, but she really enjoyed swimming with us more. She liked to sit in the float when it was out of the water, but she didn't like it in the water. She "swam" back and forth between us and drank quite a bit of water. I dipped her under water for half a second, but that didn't really make her happy. But overall, she really had fun. I was proud.
When she was done swimming, she fell in love with Spot. She chased that poor cat around for a while, so curious about him! She has never met a cat, and luckily this one was a pretty good sport. I have dozens of pictures, but decided to only put up my favorite one.
Our first birthday family picture.
Alyx was having a party for "her" birthday, but it was also Marley and Bobby's birthdays. How cute does she look walking into the party with shoes?!
The birthday people! It's so funny that two of my mom's friends and her grand daughter have the same birthdays! Before she was born and we didn't know if she was a boy or girl, Sue Mary recommended we name her Bobby Fred Alyx. I don't know where the Fred came from, but the other two names came from these two birthday buddies. Marley, if you are upset that I chose not to name you that, you can always take that up with me later.
She had a lot of fun at the party, walking around with Bobby, playing with sidewalk chalk, eating, and playing with all her fans.
When she got tired, we decided to go home and try the cake thing again. Not surprisingly, it wasn't any different than last time. She touched it very lightly, and then Asa shoved her hand in it. She was pretty upset with that, and couldn't touch it again. So, thanks to Asa, she's probably scared of cake.
I did cry once, which is better than I thought I would do. It so funny that I try to make her birthday this extra special day, but she has no idea that it is any different from another day. She was tired and she got to see more people, but she was my little baby again at the end of the day. She still wanted me to put her to sleep and she still cuddled into me when she was feeling loving. She's still my baby, and that couldn't make me happier.
